Trident MSO now accredited to City & Guild's MSO 8269-03 qualification

Trident achieves City & Guild's Centre Approval status to deliver the MSO 8269-03 qualification course.

As well as the Buckinghamshire New University short course qualification, Trident are now able to offer our students the City & Guild's MSO 8269-03 qualification too. This new level 3 course has been developed to meet the requirements of ISO/PAS 28007 and is the only qualification that has been directly mapped against this new UK maritime security industry standard.

The level 3 course is the minimum UK training standard and was designed to prepare those entering the industry with the basic knowledge and skills needed in security awareness, threat recognition and emergency response.  It also provides those already operating within the industry with a benchmark qualification, to prove competency levels as part of demonstrating their career professional development. Importantly, the course has also been mapped against the STCW 2010 Proficiency in Designated Security Duties (PDSD) course (IMO Model course 3.26), which will become a training requirement for all persons with designated security duties working on commercial vessels by 1st January 2014.

With the addition of the higher University Level 4 Certificate, Trident MSO qualified professionals will not only conform to the minimum UK standard for Privately Contracted Armed Security Personnel, but they will also be able to demonstrate a higher level of comprehensive learning to employers, that will make their CV to stand out from the crowd. With an increasing number of Private Maritime Security Companies now preferring the Trident training standard, the opportunity for employment is only set to increase.
